KINTSUGI GOLDEN FAULT

Kintsugi, 金継ぎ is  a Japanese XV Century technique, means to repair with gold. It began with the emperor  Shogun Ashikaga which wanted his broken porcelains repaired. His artisans used common nails to bring the pieces of his pottery back together but, after seeing the result, the emperor demanded a better looking technique.

In the last firing, a couple of things went wrong. When firing happens it’s all about balance and temperature, senses are fully awake in order to perceive sounds, winds, smells…I broke some pieces, and it turned out to be the story of the crocodile tears. But the actual crocodile, the one on the 28×28 cm tile, had been decapitated, nobody cried.
